Easy Meat Pie

This easy meat pie is a snap to make, with just one crust. Frozen french fries serve for a bottom crust. Use our easy pie crust recipe for the top.

Easy Meat Pie

1 pound ground beef or ground turkey or 2 cups cooked chicken or turkey, cubed.

1 medium-sized bag of frozen french fries

1 can of your favorite cream soup (cream of mushroom, cream of celery, cream of chicken)

about 1/2 can of water

1 one-pound bag of frozen vegetables, steamed and drained

1 medium onion chopped (optional)

seasoning to taste

Spray the bottom of a baking pan with cooking spray then cover with frozen french fries.

In a frying pan, brown ground beef or ground turkey with onion. You can also add chopped green pepper and/or celery to that if you want.

Mix the creamed soup with the steamed vegetables. Add meat.

Spoon the meat and vegetable mix on top of the french fries.

Roll out pie dough into a rectangle large enough to cover your baking dish. Roll the dough up onto your rolling pin and then unroll it on top of the vegetable-meat mixture. Trim off any extra pie dough. Cut vent holes in the pie crust with kitchen shears.

Bake at 350 degrees until filling is bubbly and crust is golden brown.

Tip

This can be easily adjusted to the size of your family. Just add and subtract the amount of filling you use to fit your favorite baking dish.

Tip

If you want to freeze this to eat later, cover the top with aluminum foil and freeze it BEFORE you bake it. When you need a quick meal, pull it from the freezer, remove the foil so the crust will brown, and bake without thawing first. Allow enough extra baking time for the filling to thaw and heat through.
